Monsoons in Maryland, earthquakes in Holland, hurricanes in New York. What do we have that can begin to compare? A volcano! Technically the volcano is on the Chile side of the Andes range but the volcanic ash flew straight to Buenos Aires giving us striking yellow skies through June and July, respiratory problems for my husband, a huge mess in the airports and cars covered in volcanic ash. And these marvelous photos saved by my youngest who is fighting through studying the first courses for a degree in geology.

A question for the flist
Oct. 15th, 2010 01:37 pmHere, in the Far South, getting novels in English is completely random, depending, I suppose, on what the importer (there's only one of significant size) knows for certain he can sell or what he gets on sale or what the stars dictate. Now, there's quite a bunch of Diane Gabaldon's books available. I think I've heard references about her here. My question: any advice or rec you can make?

Anyway. For your enjoyment, an amateur a capella group that usually sings rock and pop falls into the grips of "el Mundial" (an old friend of mine is a member of a drama group with these guys. She says they're otherwise normal. But the whole country goes -literally- crazy during these two, three, hopefully four weeks)
